Why I Resigned My CPC Membership

Today I resign my membership in the Conservative Party of Canada. I do so with a heavy heart but with principle, good public policy and a better Canada as my goal. Membership in the Conservative Party of Canada has proven to be useless.

Under the current leadership of Andrew Scheer, the party has taken a policy of closed nominations and disenfranchising members in their ability to select their candidate of choice in their ridings.  Under the leadership of Andrew Scheer, the Conservative Party supported the ill-conceived and impossible to implement Paris Accord.  Under Andrew Scheer, he and his Manitoba MPs refuse to publicly criticize the Made-In-Manitoba carbon tax.  Not once in the two years that I have been speaking out against the Pallister Tax have the Conservative MPs echoed the call to axe the Manitoba tax.  Nor have they supported the principle of no carbon tax in Manitoba. The Federal Conservative MPs in Manitoba undermine their own position with their silence on the Made-in-Manitoba carbon tax.

Andrew Scheer stated over and over again that he was prepared to sacrifice free trade with the United States and Mexico, and sacrifice the 200,000 jobs that are dependant on it, to protect the Dairy Cartel and their high prices in Canada for milk, cheese and other dairy products.  In fact, he even used various tricks to prevent delegates at the Party Policy Convention from even discussing the issue.

Under Andrew Scheer, rather than building a team based on common principles he simply looks to polls and special interest groups for direction.

Andrew Scheer he has failed.  He has failed to define himself, he has failed to inspire and he has failed as a leader.  As a result, the Conservative Party has written off all the seats in the City of Winnipeg.

In the next Federal election I will be working with like-minded people across Manitoba and specifically Charleswood-St.James-Assiniboia-Headingley to help prevent the Liberals from winning all the Winnipeg seats again.

Honourable Steven Fletcher is four term Member of Parliament for Charleswood-St. James-Assiniboia-Headingley, and a former Federal Cabinet Minister. Current MLA for Assiniboia and Leader of the Manitoba Party.
Honourable Fletcher is a professional engineer (P. Eng) with an MBA. He is a member of the Queen’s Privy Counsel, and holds several professional designations including Chartered Manager (C.Mgr) and holds his ICD.D designation from U of T Rotman School of Management.

I am sure Mr Trudeau is smiling at this, why should he do anything if his only credible adversary are committing Suicide. You and Mr Bernier need to fight from inside of you believe your policies are superior. Mr Scheer is far from my ideal of an ideal leader, but a poor conservative is still better than any Trudeau. Notwithstanding (and as an Anglo Quebecers that word carries a lot of baggage, we know a bit about fighting unpopular causes abandoned by those who should have been our allies) your intentions you have merley slammed the gates and given the keys to the mauraders. When we are watching a second and third Trudeau majority because the right has fractured once again I am afraid the conservative position on the carbon tax will be the least of all our worries.
