Fletcher hails Government of Canada support for scientific research to deepen knowledge of H1N1 flu virus

(Winnipeg) - The Honourable Steven Fletcher, Member of Parliament for Charleswood-St. James-Assiniboia applauds the government of Canada’s announcement today of support for five new research projects to help further knowledge of the H1N1 flu virus.
“Canada has been at the forefront of research into H1N1,” said Fletcher. “These projects will ensure Canada remains a leader in the understanding of the H1N1 flu virus.”
Fletcher joined Minister of Health Leona Aglukkaq’s as she announced $2.4 million over 2 years for five new H1N1 research projects, including a project from the University of Manitoba. The University of Manitoba research will focus on how the immune system fights the virus.
“I am pleased that our government continues to act to protect the health of Canadians,” said Fletcher.
