Fletcher Encourages All Manitobans to attend Red Shirt Rally
August 08, 2008
OTTAWA — Steven Fletcher, Member of Parliament for Charleswood–St. James–Assiniboia and Parliamentary Secretary for Health, encourages all Manitobans to attend the first Red Shirt Rally on the grounds of the Manitoba Legislature on Friday, August 15th at 12 noon. “Please wear red and come out to show your support for our men and women serving in the Canadian Forces and their families at the Red Shirt Rally next Friday” said Fletcher. “The Rally is our opportunity to show our troops that we honour and appreciate the invaluable work they are doing to promote security, freedom and fundamental human rights around the world.” The Red Shirt Rally will be held on the front steps of the Manitoba Legislature just behind the “Yellow Ribbon” garden. The volunteer committee organizing the event will video record the rally so it can be shared with the troops currently serving in Afghanistan to show Manitoba is behind them. Steven will attend the Rally as one of the featured speakers and will be joined other special guests including Bonnie Korzeniowski, MLA for St. James and Special Envoy for Military Affairs and Colonel Robert Poirier, Commander of 38 Canadian Brigade Group. Red Shirt Rallies have been held across Canada in various towns and cities over the past several years. The public rallies are non-partisan, non-political events in support of Canadian troops and their families. For Red Friday information please click on the Red Friday icon on this website. |
