(Vancouver) – The Honourable Steven Fletcher, Minister of State (Democratic Reform) and Member of Parliament (Charleswood- St. James - Assiniboia) participated today in Manitoba Day festivities at the 2010 Winter Olympic Games in Vancouver.

“I am pleased to be here to celebrate Manitoba Day and our athletes’ success on the heels of Canada’s most successful day thus far, including a bronze medal from Manitoba’s own Clara Hughes,” said Fletcher. “Congratulations to all of Manitoba’s Olympic athletes, you have made Manitobans and Canadians proud.”

Fletcher toured CentrePlace Manitoba, Manitoba’s Pavilion, with Premier Greg Selinger this morning. He also joined Minister of Heritage, James Moore, to announce Sam Sullivan as Canada’s Paralympic Ambassador.

“These are Canada’s games,” added Fletcher. “With just a few days left, I encourage all Canadians to join in the spirit of the games and cheer on our country’s finest athletes as they strive for the podium.”
