Knowledge Infrastructure Program supports Manitoba post-secondary Institutions and Students
January 13, 2010
(Winnipeg) – The Government of Canada is providing better learning environments for Manitoba’s university and college students with its Knowledge Infrastructure Program says the Honourable Steven Fletcher, Member of Parliament for Charleswood-St. James-Assiniboia. “Our post-secondary students are vital for building Canada’s future,” said Fletcher. ”Ensuring infrastructure at universities and colleges is repaired, maintained and expanded through our Knowledge Infrastructure program will help students in Manitoba receive a better quality of education.” The Government of Canada has committed $2 billion over two years of economic stimulus across Canada through the Knowledge Infrastructure Program. Investments have been made into post-secondary schools across Manitoba, including the University of Manitoba, University of Winnipeg, Red River College, and Charleswood - St. James - Assiniboia's own Canadian Mennonite University. “Investments into these infrastructure projects are also creating jobs for workers across the province,” said Fletcher. “This is another way we are providing economic stimulus to Manitoba and across Canada so we can ensure a strong economic recovery.” |
