The Government of Canada creating jobs for Manitobans
December 02, 2009
(Ottawa) -  The Government of Canada’s continued commitment to implementing its Economic Action Plan is creating jobs for Canadians with the many running projects across Manitoba, says the Honourable Steven Fletcher, Member of Parliament for Charleswood-St. James-Assiniboia.

In Winnipeg today, Minister of Finance, Jim Flaherty presented the government of Canada’s fourth report to Canadians.

“I am pleased to see Minister Flaherty in Winnipeg today highlighting to Canadians the investments our Government is making to ensure Canada recovers from the global economic downtown,” said Fletcher.

Since January 2009, infrastructure projects in Manitoba including CentrePort Canada, Headingley Trans-Canada Highway, and the Yellow Ribbon Greenway trail, have been announced to strengthen the region’s economy and create jobs.

Manitobans are also benefiting from tax cuts including up to $1,350 per family through the Home Renovation Tax Credit, support for working families with increased child benefits that started to flow in July and income tax reductions which Canadians have been seeing since April 2009.

"It is very encouraging for Manitobans to see Canada is delivering results with infrastructure projects and tax cuts like these," said Fletcher.
